Yesterday’s UU Lent Posting: Suffering

Standard

Crumpled Up Shirt

I’m a mess,

Just like this shirt.

Wet,

Ill-fitting,

Crumpled.

Tired

Worried,

Stressed.

But I did what I needed to do.

Happiness,
Passion,
Courage,
Imagination.

Self-discipline,
Memory,
Knowledge,
Compassion.

All can be found
In the Toolbox of Life.
All to be used
Whenever needed.

Guilt,
Shame,
Embarrassment.

Dangerous tools,
Only use when necessary.

Trust

Standard

What is trust?

Sitting with your new teacher,

Being a friend to someone different,

Telling a secret,

Finding comfort in a new place.

Where can you see trust?

The eyes of a baby

The eyes of a stray dog

The eyes of a young otter,

Saved from an oil spill.

Where can you feel trust?

A strong friendship,

A loving family,

A tight-nit community,

The heart of a brave soul.

Where can you hear trust?

In a cherished secret,

In a request to guard treasure,

In the whimper of a hungry creature,

To someone he’s never seen.
